I built revenue on top of revenue

Most designers replace their income every 30 days.

Land a client.
Deliver the project.
Invoice.

Then start from zero again next month.

I did that for a while.

Then I locked in my first retainer.

$5k/month. One client. Recurring.

The relief wasn't immediate. But a few months in, I realized something:

I wasn't scrambling anymore.

Everyone else was hunting for next month's rent.

I had runway.
I could breathe.
I could think.

I could be pickier about who I worked with.

And here's the part that changed everything:

I didn't have to replace that $5k every month. I got to build on top of it.

Month two: I added another retainer. Now I'm at $10k recurring.

Month four: another one. $15k.

Revenue on top of revenue.
Not revenue instead of revenue.
That's the cheat code.

2.5 years later, I can say with certainty: retainers are the only reason I'm still here.

Not my design skills.
Not my portfolio.

Retainers bought me time.

And time is the only asset that matters when you're building something that lasts.

If you're a designer stuck replacing your income every 30 days, I'm starting a 6-week cohort to teach you everything I know. Just reply to this email and I'll give you the details.

👋🏻 Have a good one!
